NZH - Specialist clinic for kidney diseases
of the Heidelberg University Hospital
As an acute specialist hospital for kidney diseases, the Heidelberg Kidney Center offers a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. Including part-time staff, around 180 employees care for around 1,700 inpatients and around 8,000 outpatients every year.
In order to ensure that patients receive high-quality care in the long term, we constantly train our staff internally and externally and implement the latest developments in treatment immediately.

Quality and safety
Action clean hands
The aim of the Clean Hands Campaign is to focus on quality and safety in patient care through hand hygiene. The national campaign is aimed at improving compliance with hand disinfection in healthcare facilities. Around 1,300 hospitals, nursing homes and outpatient clinics across Germany are currently taking part under the motto "No chance for hospital infections". Originating from the "Clean Care is Safer Care" campaign launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2005, the Clean Hands campaign has since been recognized by the WHO as the first European campaign to improve hand hygiene in the healthcare sector.
