What is the schoolmasterly saying? Better safe than sorry ... Well! The DGfN wants to help here too. What do we actually know about these delicate little blood sponges that are our kidneys? As high-performance organs, they have to keep up with everyday life. If they are damaged in the process, it doesn't even hurt. Primary prevention is intended to prevent or at least delay the onset of kidney disease in at-risk groups. However, existing kidney disease is also a key problem, but one that can be solved. The article by TakePart Media and Science encourages people to take responsibility for their own health.
The German Society for Nephrology - DGfN - has opted for a form of health education on the subject of organ donation that touches us without frightening us. This film was produced in collaboration with TakePart Media and Science. The film concept by Jens Ulrich Rüffer aims to sensitize people to the topic of organ donation and therefore emphasizes the willingness to donate as a sign of charity. In this contribution, organ donors, organ recipients and experienced practitioners all have their say. Among others, the Medical Director of the Heidelberg Kidney Center - Martin Zeier - explains interesting details. See for yourself!
Mr. and Mrs. Backs make the decision to donate living organs. Through their willingness to share these exciting and highly emotional moments of their lives with us, the Backs are pioneers in raising awareness of organ donation.
In one hour and 30 minutes, specialists from Heidelberg University Hospital and SWR2 explain the background to a far-reaching decision.
The Heidelberg Kidney Center would like to thank the Backs family for their generosity in allowing us to share their lives.
