In close cooperation and regular consultation with the medical service, the nursing service of the Heidelberg Kidney Center cares for patients on the nephrology ward, in the dialysis and peritoneal dialysis departments.
Our understanding of nursing is based on the needs and resources of our patients. Our aim is to promote the well-being and independence of our patients while respecting their individuality. The variety of demands placed on nephrological care requires our nursing staff to have a broad and well-founded knowledge:
We are constantly improving the quality of our care on the basis of the latest scientific findings and methods. Our employees acquire a high level of professional and social competence through continuous further and advanced training.
We achieve the goal of holistic nursing care through, among other things, planned and consistent area care in conjunction with continuous nursing documentation. Our nursing care ensures individual and situation-specific patient care.
Close cooperation with the social and psychological services enables us to provide psychosocial care and aftercare for our patients at all times.
If you have completed training in a healthcare profession or in nursing and are interested in working in our hospital, we look forward to receiving your application.
Hanna Hamm
Nursing Director
The ward has 42 beds. All rooms have two beds and are equipped with WC and shower.
The nursing team consists of registered nurses, medical assistants and care assistants. The nursing staff regularly take part in internal and external nursing training courses, as caring for chronically ill "long-term patients" places special demands on our nursing staff. This guarantees specialist expertise and professional care in the field of nephrology and ensures a high level of care quality.
Students at the Academy for Health Professions and Josef Hospital learn the basics of nephrology nursing as part of their practical training. They are supervised and trained in particular by the ward's practical instructors. Our ward assistant coordinates examinations and prepares the ward rounds. The team is complemented by the ladies in the ward kitchen and the care assistant, who is responsible for the entire clinic area. The nursing team is supported by helpers on the Voluntary Social Year.
We achieve the goal of holistic nursing care through, among other things, planned and consistent area care in conjunction with ongoing nursing documentation. This enables the nursing staff to ensure that patient care is as individualized and appropriate to the situation as possible.
Close cooperation with the social services and psychological services means that psychosocial care and aftercare for our patients is possible at all times.
