Long waiting times, lower numbers and the increasing age of organ donors have posed major challenges for kidney transplantation for years. This volume presents a broad spectrum of current issues and developments in kidney transplantation and living kidney donation in the form of review articles by experienced colleagues from various centers.

The articles were previously published in individual issues of the journal Nieren- und Hochdruckkrankheiten on the occasion of the 10th Kidney Transplantation Symposium of the Charité and the Heidelberg Living Kidney Donation Symposium in 2018.
